STATE OF THE ART FACILITY FOR RESEARCH AND ADVANCED SURGICAL TRAINING

The laboratory of the Institute is a state of the art facility that allows the development of our research projects and offers ideal conditions for permanent training in different surgical techniques.

Research projects in the lab are focused on surgical anatomy of the larynx, morphologic changes of the vocal folds and their different anatomical variations, development of new techniques that allow the improvement of the vibratory capacity of the vocal folds in cases of scars or sulcus vocalis, the use of lasers in laryngotracheal pathology, the development of new instruments for phonomicrosurgery and surgery of the airway and also of elements that facilitate the practice of experimental surgery simulating perfectly the conditions of an operating room (one of them is the laryngeal holder developed by Dr. Campos that is used for training in direct laryngoscopy techniques and robotic CO2 laser surgery).

Research advances are the key to understand better disease processes and to find practical solutions for the diverse affections of the larynx and the respiratory tract.

ENT specialists coming from different countries that visit us regularly during our periodic instructional activities also benefit from guided practice of surgical techniques directed by highly recognized international opinion leaders in the field of laryngology that cooperate with the academic activities of the Institute.
